Abstract

This study, carried out by the police departments of Detroit and Kansas City, provides preliminary answers to some questions regarding domestic violence and indicates, more clearly than ever, the need for further efforts to explore, in an experimental and carefully evaluated manner, other ways of reducing the chance that a dispute will lead to an assault and an assault to a homicide.
