Former Police Foundation Fellow named Deputy Chief of Alexandria (VA) Police Department

David Huchler has been named Deputy Chief of Police of the Alexandria (VA) Police Department (APD). A 21-year veteran of the APD, Huchler served as a Police Foundation Fellow in 2012. He received a masters of public administration and a bachelors of science degree in law enforcement from George Mason University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Deputy Chief Huchler has a wide breadth of experience within the APD, having held positions in each of its four bureaus. He most recently commanded the Traffic, Special Events, and Parking Division of the Operations Support Bureau (OSB), and served as Special Operations Team Commander.

Prior to that, Deputy Chief Huchler commanded the Support Services Division and oversaw the 2010 Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) re-accreditation process for the APD.
