CopBook is a secure data, knowledge, and information sharing platform currently being piloted by the Redlands Police Department (RPD). CopBook is based on the Jive Social Business Software platform. Through a grant award from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the RPD has partnered with The Efiia Consulting Group to customize and deploy CopBook.
Police Foundation Senior Research Associate, Travis Taniguchi, PhD, and Police Foundation President, Jim Bueermann, are the princiapl investigators for this project. The Police Foundation is responsible for managing the project and evaluating the impact of the platform on police operations.
CopBook is being used in a number of ways. It serves as a central destination for electronic documents such as the policy manual, wanted posters, and crime analytics. As a collaborative platform the RPD has used it to coordinate and share information within the department on long-term projects. CopBook has also been used across multiple agencies to facilitate inter-agency information sharing.
